Being the Hands and Feet...
Missions Ministry seeks to glorify God and support the overall mission and vision of Creekside UMC by growing in grace and reaching out with love. The ministry serves to enrich the lives of individuals in our church by providing opportunities to minister in our community and beyond through service. These opportunities will serve to strengthen their relationships with the Lord and each other, equipping them to exemplify Christ and share God’s extravagant love and grace. Missions Ministry's goal is to equip and to send adults, youth and children into our community to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, "Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said, "Here am I. Send me!" - Isaiah 6:8
HURRICANE HARVEY - How Can I Respond?
Many people have been wondering and asking, what is the best way we can help with the unprecedented destruction that is happening in Houston due to Hurricane Harvey? It is during disasters that I am most thankful for the connection of the United Methodist Church. There is an organization that we support both through our apportionments and in extra giving that is funded by your faithful giving to Creekside called The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR). UMCOR is a disaster relief organization that is consistently ranked as one of the best in the world. All of the administration and overhead is covered by your giving to Creekside and United Methodists all over the world giving of their tithe to their local church. That means any donations that are given beyond those apportionments go directly to relief efforts, personnel, supplies, and anything else needed at a time that is most urgent for people's lives. There are several ways you can give to UMCOR and specifically their work in Texas. You can give through your church. Just mark your donation for UMCOR or Hurricane Relief, and we will send it on your behalf. You can also give to UMCOR directly by following the link below and its instructions.
Also, please be in prayer. The devastation on Houston is going to last well beyond the time that the rain stops and the waters stop rising. UMCOR is an amazing organization because they are not only there, they will stay until recovery happens. Pray for Houston, and all those affected by this storm, and be assured that your church is in prayer and seeking ways we can be the body of Christ in this disaster.
